About New Happy Family
New Happy Family is a chinese restaurant in Reading, Pennsylvania. It is listed at 810 Oley St Ste d, Reading, PA 19604, which places it among the local businesses of Reading that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.
In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Reading; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in Pennsylvania are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
The business lists hours on 2 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 11 AMβ11 PM. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. Reading is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Reading is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

the day before my delivery came cold. I was given a 50% off discount on my next order. now today when I go to make that order the price after the discount isn't enough for them to deliver so they told me I had to add something else. now it doesn't seem fair to give me a discount and then make me pay more to please this $15 delivery few rule saying that the driver wont deliver if isn't $15 or more. the bill came to 12 something. I was told I can pick it up but that still isn't fair. the messed up my delivery so the need to fixed my next delivery. and the driver was going to get a $5 tip. even though they say that has nothing to do with them. but it makes it worth it for the driver to deliver. and how can the driver decide what orders they are going to take or night take. the delivery driver's job is to deliver. well neither the driver or the restaurant deliver on what was promised to me.

Ordered delivery. Said 45 minutes, 2 hours later I got my cold food & it was terrible. No flavor, the beef was tough & the rice was very starchy & had no flavor. Used to be a favorite. Time to start looking for another place to eat at. This is not the first time this happened. I called they offered to make new food. I declined. I told him he should not even charge me for making me wait 2 hours.

Favorite Chinese spot in the city. The crab rangoons and tostones with garlic sauce are a MUST. They never fail to satisfy me and my family. They are great with keeping in touch about orders and are always on time!!! Called 20 minutes before closing and got my food 45 minutes later!

I used to like this place alot and in the past I had written a pretty good review for them but I just took it down!! The other day I had ordered from here and I was extremely disappointed!! I did order a good amount of food my bill came up to almost $40.00 plus a tip for the delivery driver... Usually this place can take to an hour to an hour and a half to get your food but this time it actually came pretty fast within 35 minutes... When I got my order I could already see through the plastic outer bag that the inner brown paper bag was totally soaked with the gravy from my order.... When I open the bag my order was totally upside down and my container was open (which that is why all the gravy leaked out)... Not only that, one of my orders was the "pan fried wonton".... When I open that up, I seen all of the wontons were actually burnt with some almost black on one side not only that the container of soy sauce they put in with it was completely empty because they did not put the lid on right!! I did call and told them of the situation but I wasn't expecting anything in return for it... Unfortunately now I know I have to go to another Chinese restaurant in the area because I was rea
